How do I set up Internet Explorer 9 for your applications?

Internet Explorer 9 has different security requirements, and you may see errors when attempting to launch our applications using Internet Explorer 9. When our applications are launched, the prerequisites checker should be specifying that our site is a trusted site, which should resolve issues with IE 9. In the event that this is not happening, you can add the site to the list of trusted sites within IE 9.

  1. Choose Internet Options from the Options menu, which will display the Internet Options dialog.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click the icon for Trusted sites to select it.
  4. Click the Sites button to see the Trusted Sites dialog.
  5. Copy this information and paste it in the field beside the Add button:  http://design.bighammer.com
  6. Click the Add button to add the site to the list.
  7. Click the Close button to close the Trusted sites dialog.
  8. Make sure that the checkbox shown below is UNCHECKED, and then click the OK button to close the Internet Options dialog and to save the changes

I am seeing an error message when accessing 3D view, what can I do to resolve this?

Check your hardware and make sure you meet or exceed our minimum system requirements. We do not support Intel Integrated Video. We recommend at least the following: nVidia GeForce™ 9 series or ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series video card w/ Open GL 1.4 & Direct X9. Our other recommendation is to upgrade to the latest drivers for your video card.

How can I visualize my project on a photo of my home?

You can see your project on a photo of your home by using the Home Visualization tab.

NOTE: You will need to be logged in with your Big Hammer Designer Series account to use this feature. If you did not log in from the application launch page, you will see a message to let you know that you will need to be logged in, followed by a login dialog.

To add a photo of your home, use one of the following procedures:

  • Click Home Photo in the Ribbon menu.
  • Click the Add button in the Select A Home section of the Home Visualization tab. This button is represented by a drawing of a house with a “+”.

Either of these procedures will display a dialog where you can locate the photo that you wish to use. When the photo is chosen, it will be displayed in the Home Visualization tab workspace.

To see an image in the “Insert” section, you will need to view your project in 3D View.

In 3D View, you will need to manipulate your project so that it will appear in the proper perspective with your home photo. The most recent 3D image will appear in the “Insert” section when you return to the Home Visualization tab. Click the image in the “Insert” section to have it displayed in the workspace.

Each image in the workspace will be surrounded by a dashed line, and will have several icons that can be used for image manipulation. Image manipulation is performed using any of the following processes:

  • In each corner of an image, there will also be groups of dots. Place your mouse pointer over the group of dots and while holding the left mouse button, drag the image to resize it. Release the left mouse button when the desired size is achieved.
  • A single gray icon is located near the upper left-hand corner of each image. Clicking this icon will activate Warp mode, which can be used to stretch the image (the Warp icon changes color when Warp mode is enabled). When Warp mode is activated, you will see a square in each corner of the image, and the dashed line will change color. Place your mouse pointer over one of the squares, and while holding the left mouse button, drag the image to stretch it. Release the mouse pointer when the desired changes have been made. Click the Warp icon again to exit Warp mode.
  • A trash can icon is located in the lower left-hand corner of the image. This icon is used to remove the image from the workspace. Click the icon to remove the selected image.

Items in the “Scenery” section will have the following additional icons:

  • Two small squares, which is used to duplicate the current image. This will speed up the process of adding scenery elements to your home visualization.
  • An upward-pointing arrow, which is used to move the selected image behind other images in the workspace. This will allow you to add trees or shrubs which may be partially blocked.
  • A downward-pointing arrow, which is used to move the selected image in front of other images in the workspace.
